- Recall ch. 1 and make observations about the characters in TKAM; then discuss and journal about censorship.
- Identify and discuss why authors include specific diction into their novels.
- Identify diction and detail in a passage from TKAM and draw conclusions about what the evidence reveals about the town of Maycomb.

- Finish Ch. 1 Diction and Detail Packet - due tomorrow
- Log on to Google classroom and view the screencast on the Great Depression and background of TKAM. Label a piece of paper "Screencast Notes" and take notes as you watch. (The screencast is 9 minutes long, but plan on 20-30 minutes to watch, pause and take notes). - DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, THIS ASSIGNMENT IS IS NOW DUE Monday, 8/24
