Scylla and Charybdis


Today I will: 
  • Identify Diction, Details and Imagery in Homer’s Scylla and Charybdis that indicates the speaker’s perspective.
  • Construct my own version of Odysseus’ encounter with S & C by writing a narrative from either S or C perspective.
  • Compare and contrast Homer’s version of the S & C encounter to visual representations, including analyzing  3 political cartoons for meaning.
  • -Define a new vocabulary word, and develop an example, non-example, draw a picture and develop a showing sentence using the vocabulary word.

Siren's Song and The Ordinary World

Today I will: 
-Define a new vocabulary word, and develop an example, non-example, draw a picture and develop a showing sentence using the vocabulary word.
-Identify Diction and Details in Atwood’s poem “Siren Song” that indicates the speaker’s perspective. 
-Compare and contrast Odysseus’ perspective to the Siren’s perspective through a short writing assignment.

Sirens Song: Point of View

Today's Agenda:
1. Stamp HW
2. Read "Sirens Song"
3. Complete "The Sirens" Compare and Contrast Paragraph
4. Sample narratives & dialogue gems

Homework:
Attend tutorials, if needed.  Tuesday after school, Wed. at lunch and Thursday after school.
1. Finish "The Sirens" packet completely - due tomorrow
2. Prepare for writing your Narrative
3. HONORS: Dialectical Journal #3 (2 more entries) due Friday
-Your entries should come from the last 1/3 of your book.
-The text excerpts should be spaced out to reveal how the motif is emerging, changing and or taking on new meaning or revealing new themes.
-Do not erase grades on the document.
-Make all suggested changes for a higher score and use comments as advice for the two entries due Friday.
-Do not "resolve" comments I've made to you, instead, "reply" back or ask questions.
-Keep working on the same document in google classroom. Some of you turned it in electronically, so you will have to "unsumbit" to continue working on it.

2. Complete "The Sirens" Pre-reading activity
3. Read "The Sirens"
4. Complete "The Sirens" worksheet up through Post Reading
5. Honors: meet with me about Dialectical Journals

Homework:
Attend tutorials, if needed. Today at lunch, Tuesday after school, Wednesday at lunch and Thursday after school.
